What should we do with the concrete behind the watergarden? April 22, 2010

Okay, so my husband wants to put lattice over the concrete, which would match the lattice to the right which is part of a deck and then grown vines on it. I think painting a mural would be awesome.

What do you guys think??

If you like the lattice/vine idea, let me know what would be good to grow back there.

If you like the mural idea, send me an email with a sketch or some other ideas!

Thanks for your input!!

I suggested bonding some natural stone to the concrete wall, then growing bromeliads or even orchids in the spaces created by the stones or anchoring potholder rings to the wall. If you bring some mini sprayers up behind the stone facade, you could have them on an automatic water system. If in pots, you could bring them in during winter.

The pot holders alone anchored over a camouflaged or earth tone stained concrete wall would be pretty easy and very effective.

These are acid stained concrete samples. Totally DIY in this case, because any imperfections would be hidden behind all the plants.
